This September we launched our highly anticipated new collection, Jass, which is a spirited celebration of texture, colour and pattern. After months of preparation and the uncertain year we have all encountered, we could not think of a better time to release this collection, to spring energy and unexpected beauty into our spaces.
This collection charts an unlikely path for Chase Erwin, known for its calm elegance and quiet neutrals; Jass boasts an expanded palette of rich new colours teamed with bold retro patterns. We wanted to take you back to the era of the 1800’s, when Jazz music burst onto the scene bringing vivacity and flair.
As with all Chase Erwin collections, Jass has been consciously curated to complement our established lines. It has been designed to bring together our past collections and jazz up more neutral schemes and includes both upholstery and drapery-weight fabrics.
We have worked closely with our mills to develop a bespoke colour palette including luscious greens, deep blues and a bright zing of citrine. Contrast taupe with some ink to add depth and structure, or inject an undertone of saffron to a scheme to add warmth with a sophisticated edge. Polar whites are refreshed when placed alongside our vine greens. Or make a bold statement with the classic geometric style patterns.
Chase Erwin is especially renowned for its inspiration stories behind each one of our collections. These fabrics were brought to life by a moment in time. Whilst driving through the countryside, Ragna listened to a radio programme discussing the origins of the word Jazz and its later connotations in music.
The origins of the word Jazz are hotly debated but is believed to have derived from the word Jass, American slang from the late 1800’s meaning spirited, energetic and peppy. This sparked the idea to create a lively collection on luxury textiles that would be fun and playful and feature some wonderful statement pieces that give a sophisticated retro edge to the Chase Erwin aesthetic.
